Furnace Installation

Find The Right Furnace For Your Home

Furnaces tend to last about 15 to 20 years once installed, and with the ways of the world today chances are that the money you invest into furnace installation today will get your further than it did when you installed the furnace you currently have. When considering the purchase and installation of a new furnace in your home, you need to be sure that you are choosing a furnace that fits you.

There are three main types of furnaces: single stage, dual stage, and modulating. Typically, single stage is the least comfortable system where as modulating is the most comfortable system. The most common residential furnace is powered by natural gas and can range from $3,500 to $7,000 in installation costs. Although oil furnaces are still being used consistently, they tend to be less efficient. They cost between $3,000 and $6,000 to install, and can increase if existing duct work needs to be adapted to work with them.

Efficiency

Considering the efficiency of your new furnace is very important. Older-model furnaces were typically rated 80 percent efficient or less, which means 20 percent of the heat generated was wasted. Many new models are rated 90 percent or better. Although it seems to be a small increase in efficiency, it translates to a fairly decent decrease in your utility costs.
